Mount Kent Observatory hosts the Australian node of the global Stellar Observations Network Group () telescope network, an international collaboration with .

Launched in 2006 by astronomers at and the , SONG is dedicated to the design and construction of a global network of small telescopes for the study of stars and planetary systems around stars.

The Mount Kent Observatory SONG node consists of two 70cm telescopes feeding light by optical fibres to a dedicated spectrograph.

SONG observations enable of stellar interiors, complementing the work of MINERVA-Australis to deliver new knowledge of the physics and evolution of stars and their exoplanets.
